The Challenge

Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ), representing 78 councils nationwide, sought to modernise its outdated desktop and server infrastructure with a modern, cloud-based solution to improve operational efficiency and engagement with both their staff and the councils they support. However, LGNZ faced a daunting task in migrating over 300GB of data to a secure and accessible platform. The organisation lacked in-house resources for effective communications and change management, and with no prior experience in Microsoft 365, LGNZ required expert guidance to ensure a smooth migration and to facilitate staff adoption of the new tools.

The Solution

To address these challenges, LGNZ partnered with Spoke and LanWorx to design and deploy a modern, cloud-based digital workplace powered by Microsoft 365. Our approach included:


Strategic Planning

We worked closely with LGNZ to understand their unique requirements, developing a detailed, phased roadmap for Microsoft 365 implementation and migration.


Rapid Deployment through Traction Framework

Using our Traction deployment framework, we accelerated access to a modern digital workspace integrated with MS Teams. This approach minimised disruption while providing a robust platform for collaboration.


Data Migration and Security

We migrated over 300GB of data from legacy systems to SharePoint Online. Through structured planning and rigorous testing, we ensured data integrity, accessibility, and security throughout the migration process.


User Enablement and Change Management

To ensure successful adoption, we provided comprehensive training and support tailored to LGNZ’s needs, covering everything from basic Microsoft 365 functions to effective collaboration methods within Microsoft Teams. This hands-on approach empowered staff to navigate the new platform confidently.
